THE PUBBERS INVITATIONAL
THE STORY
The Pubbers Invitational is the modern-day version of rivalry-driven apartment cricket played in the '90s in Bangalore, India where the victor took home a Pepsi! Forget the Ashes or even an India-Pakistan game, the ultra-competitive games were played between apartment blocks with heated battles raging in scorching summers with tempers cooled only by sudden downpours. Rivalries were so intense that players wouldn't speak to opposition players even though they shared the same school bus!
Since then, the beverage of choice for those players is the golden nectar.

Gallons of beer brings out the lore of those fierce games, with words flying thick and fast, equal in abuse and reverence to a performance on the field but more in deference to some great memories of why the game is so loved. It certainly wasn't a game for gentlemen!
We're re-igniting the passion of decades past with a nod to the present, by collecting a motley crew of these battlers from all across the world, in this country of grey skies and gales, to go into battle on those hallowed 22 yards, to play for The Tankard, the holy grail of The Pubbers Invitational!
THE GAME
FORMAT
Teams will compete in two T20 matches and if there is an outright winner (2-0) that team will win The Tankard.
If the series is tied 1-1 or there is a 1-0 margin (with the other game being a tie) then the series will go into a 5 Over Super Smash to determine the winner. The winner of the Super Smash wins The Tankard.
If the Super Smash is tied, The Tankard will be decided by one or multiple Super Over games until either side wins by a majority margin, limited to 3 games.
If the Super Overs are tied 1-1, the winner will be decided by a beer-drinking contest!
TEAMS
The Invitational begins with the Beer Bellies Cricket Club playing Pecos Cricket Club for The Tankard with the Pecos being the challengers to the title.
THE TROPHY
No other Trophy in the history of the game evokes such emotion, with perhaps the exception of the Urn.
DATE & LOCATION
The game will be held on Sunday 03 October at a local cricket club in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, United Kingdom.
